About Me

Wow, it’s been a long time for this. I haven’t updated this page in some time but I guess I’ll keep it short and sweet. I was born in a small town outside Providence Rhode Island called Cumberland on May 28th 1977. After graduating from Cumberland High School in 1995, it was time to see the world. So what is the best way someone 18 years old can go and see the world for free? They join the Navy. From Late ’98 and most of ’99 is where I can really thank my friend Will for getting me into Trance. Like all things, my tour of duty was up. So after 4 years of being an Operations Specialist 2nd class and roughly 3 years as a Search and Rescue swimmer it was time to move on. Little did I know moving on wouldn’t take me back home to Cumberland, but some how I would end up in Austin, Texas in early 2000.

Texas?! No kidding. It had so many different things that I’ve never seen before at that time. I mean damn, it had the food, the people, the night life, and the parties. But you know what the best part about it was? It had the Music. I was lucky to get a decent job and a nice place to stay so I thought I’d stay for awhile. Sometime around February 2001 and after a year of living it up, I had to be apart of the music. If it meant that me buying my decks, and mixer would end up putting me in some serious debt? Then so be it. It would be worth it. It was about this time, where I totally lived and died Trance. In late 2001 I got lucky and scored a couple of gigs here and there. I was even able to score my own weekly at a bar for free beer which lasted a few months. In the process I also annoyed my neighbors with same 4 on the floor beats over and over again.

In 2002 I hooked up with a group of guys who ran Club M. It ended up becoming a weekly thing that lasted almost 13 months. It was about this point where I realized one thing. I don’t like being a promoter and I’d rather be a dj. It ended up being way more work then I thought. But in the end, it was a great experience. At the end of 2002 I was starting to pick up drum and bass. In early 2003 I was laid off from my job and then started my 8 months of unemployment. This was tough because it put a huge dent into my finances. I pretty much couldn’t buy any decent amount of records or not much of anything for that mater for sometime. Long story short, 2003 was a pretty bad year for me, and I’d rather not talk about it. I was glad to see it go.

In early 2004 I caught a copy of the “January 2003” mix from a dude named BiZaR out in DC. This single mix warped my mind and completely changed the way I think about DJing. The very next day after hearing this mix I quit Trance cold turkey. I had been working for about 4 months now so what little money I had went to my debts. There were times where I had a choice between records and food for the next few days. I chose the records most of the time. By the time June 2004 rolled around is when I dropped my Awake Until I Sleep mix. It was a huge success and you can hear that my style had completely changed from my older mixes. After that, I pretty much laid low. I lost too much weight and needed to eat, so DJing had to wait.

By the time 2005 rolled around most of my debts were in check, I was healthy, working out but most of all? Still DJing DnB. I started buying all my records from Chemical Records. Once August of 2005 rolled around I was able to drop my 35 track monster Sleeping Until I wake. It was another milestone for me and another success. I finished the year out with a few gigs here and there.

2006 is still fresh and I’ve got three gigs under my belt and I hope more are on the way. I should be dropping another studio mix here in the coming months. I’m looking to reach another level with this mix. It should be easy when I’m jamming it full of tunes from Black Sun Empire, Counter Strike, Concord Dawn, Evol Intent, Raw Thang, Skynet, and Muffler. So until then, keep checking back for updates and news. I should be updating this more often, but I always say that. Thanks for stopping by and I hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks,
-Kurt
